I cant’ help myself. I sit in a room at a friend’s house or step into a condo my family is renting for vacation and my mind starts whirling with the rearrangement of furniture that could be made to make the space more comfortable, or better able to take in the beautiful view outside. I love decorating for Simply Put because it gives me the opportunity to offer others the feeling I want most from my own home – a sense of warmth, beauty, balance and function - no matter what type of home it is, or how much is available to spend on sprucing it up. I can’t help but think about the look and feel of a place when I walk in – it is just second nature to me, and it is a gift to be able to do that for others.
After preparing and staging my own family’s home to rent out while on a year-long sabbatical in Oaxaca, Mexico, I realized what little guidance is available and what a great resource I could be to others by offering comprehensive checklists, organizational guides, decorating advice and marketing copy for those getting ready to rent out their whole home or just a defined space in their home (what to leave out, what to store, and how to arrange everything else).
Since our Sabbatical year, my family has become avid Airbnbers. We've rented out our home for 7 years running and have stayed in Airbnb's in multiple countries -- it's our favorite way to travel! I confidently offer every possible aspect of assistance to Airbnb or VRBO Hosts as well as Sabbatical Families in creating a space that wows prospective renters, attracts premium guests at an optimal price, and keeps the bookings coming in.
I have transformed over 100 spaces in every area of the home infusing them with new life and purpose, making them function as beautifully as they look. I have also completed coursework in Interior Design at the Art Institute of Colorado in Denver and a symposium in Creating Enlightened Households with the Shambala Center of Boulder. I hold a BA in Economics, lending to my understanding of ROI and use of affordable decor and am a mother of two, reinforcing my practical notions of spacial use and flow. My time spent in nature and traveling and living abroad influences my choices of natural and cultural accents.
